The head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host talks in August to discuss the situation in Ukraine, with a focus on a potential peace plan. Yermak shared the news on Twitter, stating that the meeting of national security advisers to implement the “Ukraine Peace Formula” will take place in Saudi Arabia, following a previous session held in June in Copenhagen. The aim is to involve as many partners as possible from the West and the Global South in the negotiations.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the talks are scheduled for August 5 and 6 and are expected to have participation from around 30 countries. However, the specific location in Saudi Arabia has not been officially confirmed.
Yermak emphasized that the “Ukraine Peace Formula” comprises ten fundamental points, the successful implementation of which would not only bring peace to Ukraine but also establish mechanisms to prevent future conflicts worldwide. He expressed strong belief that this plan should serve as the foundation for resolving the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The 10 points of the peace formula have been subject to discussions with representatives from over 50 countries, both individually and in groups, on a nearly weekly basis.
In addition to the upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia, Yermak announced that Ukraine will begin consultations with the United States to seek security guarantees for Kyiv while the process of joining NATO is ongoing. The discussions aim to establish concrete and long-term commitments to ensure Ukraine’s ability to counter and deter Russian aggression in the future. These guarantees will remain in effect until Ukraine secures NATO membership.
Following the NATO summit in Lithuania earlier this month, the G7 group of advanced countries pledged to draw up and honor security guarantees for Ukraine. Yermak revealed that over 10 other countries have joined the G7 declaration, and Ukraine is currently negotiating the terms of future guarantees with each of them.
The summit in Saudi Arabia comes in the context of ongoing efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, and it holds significance as it includes the involvement of numerous nations willing to support and address the security concerns of the region.
