LOS ANGELES – Angus Cloud, the actor who gained fame for his portrayal of drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in the HBO series “Euphoria,” has passed away at the age of 25.
According to his publicist, Cait Bailey, Cloud died on Monday at his family home in Oakland, California. No cause of death has been disclosed.
In a heartfelt statement, Cloud’s family bid farewell to their cherished loved one, describing him as “an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son.” They shared that Angus had been coping with the loss of his father, whom he deeply cherished and considered his best friend, in the week before his passing. The family acknowledged Angus’ openness about his mental health battles and expressed the hope that his passing would serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not endure their struggles in silence.
Remembering Cloud for his incredible sense of humor, contagious laughter, and love for everyone, his family cherished the memories he left behind.
Prior to “Euphoria,” Angus Cloud had no prior acting experience. He was discovered by casting scout Eleonore Hendricks while walking down a New York street. Initially skeptical about the offer, Cloud was won over after meeting with casting director Jennifer Venditti and series creator Sam Levinson. He eventually became a co-star on the show, starring alongside Zendaya for its first two seasons.
Despite his seamless portrayal of Fez, Cloud rejected the notion that he was identical to his character and debunked the assumption that it was easy for him to play himself onscreen. He emphasized his dedication to the role and the effort he put into bringing depth to the character.
His remarkable performance on “Euphoria” catapulted Cloud to stardom, making him one of the most talked-about stars in the television industry. Recently, he was cast as a co-star in the upcoming film “Scream 6.”
HBO, the network behind “Euphoria,” expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Angus Cloud. In a statement, they praised his immense talent and affectionately remembered him as a cherished part of both the HBO and “Euphoria” family. The network extended their heartfelt condolences to Cloud’s friends and family during this difficult time.
