Health Canada has issued a recall notice for multiple Rainbow Road Board books due to concerns of a potential choking hazard. The recall notice, released on Thursday, highlights that the binding rings of these books may become detached, which could pose a risk of choking to users.
Make Believe Ideas, the manufacturer responsible for these books, has reported that a total of 12,878 units of the affected products were sold in Canada. Additionally, approximately 163,500 units were sold in the United States between March 2022 and August 2023.
As of September 13, there have been no reported injuries or incidents related to these books in Canada. However, the company has received two reports of plastic ring detachment in the United States, with no injuries reported in connection with these incidents.
In response to the recall, Health Canada is urging Canadians who have purchased these Rainbow Road Board books to “immediately” cease using the recalled product. Consumers are encouraged to contact Make Believe Ideas to arrange for a refund, which will be provided in the form of a gift card.
This recall underscores the importance of product safety and vigilance in ensuring that potentially hazardous items are promptly removed from the market to prevent harm to consumers, particularly children who may be at risk of choking or other injuries.
