Music icon Tina Turner has been cremated following a private farewell from her loved ones. The location of her ashes is currently unknown, but it is believed that Turner wanted her final resting place to be a meaningful location.
The details of the private funeral have not been publicly disclosed. However, Turner’s assistant, Eddy Hampton Armani, previously stated that she did not want a large public funeral.
It is likely that the ceremony took place in Switzerland, where Turner peacefully passed away in her home. Shortly after her death, her longtime friend Oprah Winfrey was seen arriving in Zurich, presumably to pay her respects.
Turner, who was 83 years old, passed away on May 24 after battling health issues for several years. The official cause of her death was listed as “natural causes.”
In her 2018 memoir, Turner candidly discussed her struggles with her health and mental well-being. She revealed that before her kidney transplant, she was in a dark place and contemplated assisted suicide. She described feeling consumed by toxins in her body and the inability to live a fulfilling life. However, she eventually found the strength to continue living.
Turner also opened up about her tumultuous marriage to Ike Turner, which resulted in mental illness, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. She shared how Ike’s desire for control and her economic value led to a toxic relationship. Turner even attempted suicide by taking a whole bottle of sleeping pills, but she woke up and realized that she was meant to survive.
The legendary singer’s ashes will find their resting place in a location that holds significance to her, though the exact details remain undisclosed.
