A small plane crash occurred on Tuesday morning at the Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec City, resulting in injuries to the pilot.
According to Quebec City police, the crash happened at 9:22 a.m. The airport’s Twitter feed identified the aircraft as an Orizon Aviation Cessna 152, carrying only one passenger—the pilot, who sustained injuries in the accident. Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, but the cause of the crash is yet to be determined, as stated by Alexandre Mc Graw, a spokesperson for the airport.
An eyewitness captured the incident on video, which shows the plane taking off, making a turn, and then abruptly descending before crashing. The aircraft ended up upside down on the runway, as confirmed by the police.
As a consequence of the crash, the airport’s main runway was affected, leading to some flight delays. However, authorities are working to tow the aircraft away and restore the runway, which is expected to be completed within the next few hours.
Investigations into the cause of the accident will be conducted to determine the factors that led to the plane crash. Meanwhile, the focus remains on providing medical attention to the injured pilot and ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the airport’s facilities.
