Kuwait’s ruling Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, as confirmed by the Kuwaiti royal court.
In a statement, the Amiri Diwan of Kuwait expressed deep grief and regret, announcing the demise of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Born on June 25, 1937, in the House of Sabah, the ruling family of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf held various key roles, including serving as the minister of interior and first deputy prime minister in 2003. He assumed the position of crown prince in 2006 and ascended to the throne in September 2020, becoming the sixteenth Emir of Kuwait.
Emir Nawaf had been hospitalized in late November due to an emergency health problem. His passing marks a moment of mourning for the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Muslim nations, and others who have shared friendly ties with the nation.
