Kimberly-Clark, the parent company of the popular tissue brand Kleenex, has announced the discontinuation of its consumer facial tissue business in Canada, effective August 2023. The decision is attributed to “unique complexities” and the challenging supply environment. While Kleenex consumer facial tissues will no longer be available in Canada, other Kimberly-Clark products, including Kleenex professional facial products, Kleenex consumer hand towel products, and various other brands such as Cottonelle, Viva, U by Kotex, Poise, Depend, Huggies, Pull-Ups, and Goodnites, will continue to be accessible to Canadian consumers.
Todd Fisher, Kimberly-Clark Canadian Vice President and General Manager, expressed the difficulty of the decision and thanked consumers for their decades of support. The company intends to allocate resources more effectively by shifting its focus to other brands in Canada, prioritizing innovation and value to meet consumer needs.
This announcement follows a recent trend of popular products, including Nestle’s Delissio frozen pizza, Bugles corn snacks, and a range of Little Debbie sweet treats, being discontinued in the Canadian market.
