SANTA FE, N.M. –Known as the Zorro Ranch, the high-desert property previously owned by the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has been sold after spending two years on the market.
An attorney for Epstein’s estate, Daniel Weiner, confirmed the sale on Tuesday, stating that the ranch was sold for an undisclosed price, with the proceeds intended for estate administration and creditor payments. Initially listed in 2021 for $27.5 million, the property’s price was later reduced to $18 million.
Weiner mentioned that the estate would reveal the sales price in its next quarterly accounting, which will be filed with the probate court in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Santa Fe County assessor records indicate that the new owner is San Rafael Ranch LLC, a company registered with the secretary of state’s office in late July, as reported by the Santa Fe New Mexican.
Jeffrey Epstein was discovered dead in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Federal investigators cited negligence, misconduct, and job failures as factors that enabled him to take his own life.
In New Mexico, Epstein constructed a massive 26,700-square-foot mansion featuring a sprawling courtyard and a living room roughly the size of an average American home. Nearby, there was a private airstrip complete with a hangar and helipad. The property also included a ranch office, a firehouse, and a seven-bay heated garage.
Epstein acquired the Zorro Ranch in 1993 from former Democratic Governor Bruce King.
Although Epstein was never charged in New Mexico, the state attorney general’s office confirmed in 2019 that it was conducting an investigation and had interviewed potential victims who had visited the ranch located south of Santa Fe.
