On Monday, at least one person was killed and three people were injured in a shooting at an Ohio Walmart, according to reports from WHIO television. The information was gathered from on-site reporters and a spokesperson from a local hospital.
Responding swiftly to the shooting, the Beavercreek, Ohio police assured the public that there was no longer a threat to safety. Beavercreek, a city just east of Dayton with a population of about 46,000, was the location of this unfortunate event.
Law enforcement announced that the building had been cleared and secured, emphasizing on a social media platform that there was currently no active threat. However, they refrained from disclosing details about potential casualties at that time.
Eyewitness accounts on social media described the shooter using an assault rifle. One woman, who was shopping for Thanksgiving supplies, shared a video recounting the harrowing experience of witnessing the assailant pass by with an assault rifle and begin firing. She expressed uncertainty about injuries or fatalities but tearfully recounted escaping harm despite the shooter firing approximately 10 times.
Another social media witness characterized the shooter as a “tall, young white guy” carrying an Army bag, expressing heightened nerves due to the unsettling incident.
Images circulating on social media depicted a significant police presence at the scene, with numerous police cars, lights flashing, converging on the Walmart store.
Following the incident, Soin Medical Center received three patients from the shooting, as reported by WHIO, citing information from a hospital spokesperson.
Law enforcement assured the public that additional information would be released as soon as it became available.
