Authorities confirmed at least one fatality resulting from an overnight Russian missile strike that struck an apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian town of Selydove. The incident also led to the rescue of five individuals, including a child, while concerns persist about at least one person possibly trapped beneath the rubble, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko’s statement on the Telegram messaging app.
The attack, situated northwest of the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk, caused substantial damage to a four-story building, as revealed by Klymenko. Early on Wednesday, rescue teams engaged in clearing the rubble issued warnings against approaching the severely impacted structure.
This strike follows Russia’s recurrent deployment of missile and drone attacks on populated areas located beyond the front line of its 21-month-long, full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The situation underscores the ongoing threat and humanitarian impact of the conflict in the region.
