Australian Home Minister Clare O’Neil didn’t hold back in criticizing Donald Trump Jr., referring to him as a “big baby” after he cancelled his planned speaking tour in Australia.
Originally, Trump Jr. was scheduled for a three-day tour of Australia, set to commence in Sydney on Sunday. However, on Wednesday, the trip was abruptly cancelled, with organizers citing visa issues as the reason behind the decision.
Turning Point Australia, a non-profit group advocating for free markets and limited government, acknowledged the visa challenges faced by the Trump family in a Facebook post, suggesting that it wasn’t just the United States that posed difficulties for them.
However, Minister O’Neil, a prominent member of Australia’s center-left Labor government led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, contradicted the claim, stating that Donald Trump Jr. had indeed been granted a visa. She asserted that poor ticket sales were the real reason for the cancellation, referring to Trump Jr. as a sore loser and a not-so-popular figure in Australia.
Minister O’Neil expressed her views on Twitter, although the posts were later deleted for unknown reasons. Her office has yet to respond to requests for comment regarding the deletions.
Prime Minister Albanese echoed O’Neil’s statements, confirming that Donald Trump Jr. had not been prohibited from entering Australia and that his visa application had been processed in the usual manner. Albanese emphasized that the decision to defer his travel was solely Trump Jr.’s.
Donald Trump Jr., an ardent supporter of his father, who is currently the front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential nominating contest, has maintained a strong presence in the political landscape.
