MEXICO CITY – Tragedy struck on Mexico’s southern Gulf coast as a van carrying 23 Honduran migrants met with a devastating accident, resulting in five fatalities and leaving 18 others injured. The incident occurred when the van, commonly utilized for public transport and migrant smuggling in the region, veered off the highway and either rolled or was crushed into a mangled heap. The deceased victims include four adult women and a two-year-old child, while approximately half of the injured are children.
The authorities from Mexico’s National Immigration Institute are investigating the cause of the crash and are working to provide necessary assistance and support to the survivors and the families of the deceased.
