The extensive Bush Creek East wildfire, which has been raging in British Columbia’s Shuswap region, has left a trail of destruction in its wake, with over 160 structures confirmed as destroyed or damaged, as reported during a briefing on Friday afternoon by officials from the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD).
These numbers are part of a preliminary survey conducted in areas where it was safe for Canada Task Force 1 members to perform rapid damage assessments. Erick Thompson, a representative of CSRD, emphasized that there are still active wildfires in the region, making it impossible to assess properties in those areas.
The Bush Creek East wildfire has had a devastating impact on the community, and authorities continue to work diligently to combat the fires and assess the extent of the damage.
